Monday, July 26: Learn about LEAP…Listen, Empathize, Agree, and Partner

Developed by Dr. Xavier Amador, Ph.D in his struggle to help his brother Henry accept treatment for mental illness. LEAP is a evidence based communication approach for people who have loved ones with a serious mental illness. It teaches you to listen and respect others points of view which results in less tension, anger and defensiveness and enables the ability to find a common ground to communicate.  Dr. Amador has written a book called “I AM NOT SICK, I Don’t Need Help!” which is a highly recommended guide for family members whose loved ones are battling mental illness.
