The
"Every Mind Matters" Program
A mental health and wellness curriculum for Grades 5-9 and Grades 9-12
NAMI NJ has recently introduced a new
program, "Every Mind Matters"
(EMM), a mental illness education program targeted
to children in Grades 5-9 and Grades 9-12. "Every
Mind Matters" is designed to teach children
the importance of taking care of their mental health, as well
as their physical health. EMM
explains the meaning of stigma and how
we can stamp out stigma related to persons with disabilities.
The program also teaches about famous people who have made
great contributions to our society, despite their disabilities.
The "Every
Mind Matters" Program includes a 45-minute
to one-hour classroom presentation with hands-on activities,
a learning packet, and a list of resources. It is presented
by trained educators in an interactive format. Presentations
can be scheduled for groups of 10 - 50 students.
Here are
some of the comments we've received about "Every Mind
Matters:"
"Heartfelt thanks
for a wonderful presentation!"
"The kids are still buzzing
about EMM."
"The students who attended
EMM especially liked the relaxation exercise!"
