NAMI NEW JERSEY ADVOCACY ALERT

July 18, 2007

ACT NOW to Support Critical Mental Health Funding (HR 3043)

This week, the House is moving forward on a FY 2008 spending bill for mental health research and services. The draft spending bill includes funding that is higher than the President’s proposed budget for FY 2008. Because the President requested lower funding levels, he is threatening to veto a number of spending bills. A veto would reduce funding levels for important mental health programs! It is essential that members of both parties support this bill by a margin sufficient to override any veto threat.

Action Needed

Contact your U.S. Representative's office today and urge him/her to vote in favor of HR 3043, which will fund critical mental health services and research. Click here to send a letter to your House member or call (202) 224-3121 to reach the Capitol Switchboard.
