NAMI NEW JERSEY ADVOCACY ALERT

February 15, 2005

SENATE PASSES LIEN LAW!  BILL GOES TO GOVERNOR!

The New Jersey Senate yesterday unanimously approved (35-0) the Lien Law A779/S880. The bill now goes to the Governor to be signed into law. Advocates are urged to contact the Governor Codey and thank him for his support for mental health. We look forward to his signing this piece of legislation that will end the discriminatory practice of placing liens for the full cost of care on patients who are hospitalized at state and county psychiatric hospitals and certain members of their family.
